| Nation of Islam leader
tries to recant but 'too late,' says Obama

From wire reports
February 25, 2008, Chicago--Minister
Louis Farrakhan said Sunday that presidential candidate Barack Obama is
the "hope of the entire world."
Farrakhan compared Obama to Nation of
Islam founder Fard Muhammad, who also had a white mother and black father.
"Maybe now that we have this young mulatto
man, this child of Mohammad at the helm, America will turn from its
evil, racist, Jew-loving ways and change for the better," said the
74-year-old Farrakhan during his first major speech in a year.
Later, however, after being told by handlers
that Obama is not Muslim but Christian, Farrakhan tried to withdraw his
endorsement of the Illinois senator.
"This just demonstrates to us the duplicitous
ways
of the present Judeo-Christian regime controlling America.
To take this Christian man and stamp him with a Muslim-sounding name, and
then try to pass him off to the unknowing as a fellow son of Mohammad, is
evil incarnate."
"Senator Obama has been clear in his
objections to Minister Farrakhan's past pronouncements and has not
solicited the minister's support, but we'll take it," said Obama
campaign spokesman Bill Burton.
Farrakhan says he never made an outright
endorsement of Obama and that the campaign should allow "this elder child
of the One True God to have his words returned to him."
"Too late," said Burton.
